Ingredients

  • 1 rack pork ribs
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons cumin

Tools

  • Baking sheet
  • Aluminum foil
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Brush or spoon for sauce
  • Oven with broiler

Directions

Prepare the ribs

Preheat the oven to 300°F. Mix all the dry rub ingredients together, then coat the ribs evenly. Wrap them tightly in aluminum foil with the meaty side facing down.

Bake low and slow

Place the wrapped ribs on a baking sheet and cook on the middle rack for about 3 hours, or until the meat feels loose from the bone.

Broil and glaze

Remove the ribs from the oven and set the broiler to high. Open the foil and coat the underside of the ribs with BBQ sauce. Broil until the sauce begins to caramelize.

Finish and serve

Carefully flip the ribs, coat the top with more BBQ sauce, and broil again until caramelized without burning. Remove, cut into portions, and serve.

Notes

  • Keep a close eye during broiling to avoid burning the sauce.
  • Let the ribs rest a few minutes before cutting.
  • Use your favorite BBQ sauce for different flavor profiles.
